First Dance

Tonight Jacob and Abbey went on their first real date. He is taking Abbey to the Jenks Homecoming dance. They left earlier after a short picture taking indulgence at the park. They went to dinner at Napoli's and then will be going to the dance. I don't know yet how it went becuase they are not home yet! As I post this they are probably just arriving at the dance. I hope they have a great time. They both looked very nice.

Tomorrow is Jacob's 16th birthday. I wonder if he knows how much I wish I could give him everything he deserves for his birthday? I hope so. This year I don't have much to offer in the way of gifts, but I love him very much. Happy birthday kid!

Learner's Permit

So, Jacob wants to go get his learners permit tomorrow! I have to tell you that I think I may need to hire an attorney to figure out how to go about this. I am reading through the info I can find on line and I am very confused. He had to take parent taught drivers ed, and is at the point in that course where he can go, but I am just very confused! Ugh! Beaurocrats make everything so complicated! Why would anyone ever want to give the government more power over their lives? It boggles my mind that thay can make something that should be very simple, very, very complicated!

Sorry, that is all I have to say today. Now I must go and read some more about this nonsense!

Write this down....

Today is a momentous occasion! Write it down in your record books! The day that my baby got his own wheels! Yay, Jacob! He is so proud. He can't stay in the house. Wait till you see the pictures. It is not pretty. But it is BIG. Very BIG!! He paid for it with his own money. He sold his 4 wheeler, mowed yards, peppered pigs, and traded his beloved shot gun for this, ummm.... beauty? Yes, it is a thing of beauty. Remember your first car? Tell me about it in the comments section.

Mine was a 1979 Silver Ford Pinto with a red interior, and a very odd smell. It had a sunroof... that leaked like a sieve. I thought it was going to explode a lot of the time. My friends and I had some fun trips in that clunker. We made a secret trip to Rogers, Arkansas to visit the Vaughn boys, countless trips between Tulsa and Oklahoma City and much, much more. I finally sold it for a whole dollar! The guy I sold it to, never had the title switched out of my name and a few years down the road I recieved notice that my vehicle was used in committing a crime!! Wouldn't it be cool if cars could talk? We could hear some interesting stories from that old truck out there.

Abbey and her mom Gigi came by after church so the awesome girlfriend could see the new/old awesomeness of Jacob's new/old truck. Gigi and I took advantage of the visit for a photo shoot.

Abbey is so little (in stature only...big heart, big smile, big brains!!) that none of us thought she would be able to get into the truck. Especially since she was in a dress! But she just had to hear, "You can't get up there" and before we turned around, there she was, up there! Love that girl!

Aren't they cute? I guess it is a good thing that Abbey likes vintage stuff, because this truck is definately vintage! It needs a lot of love. Congrats Jacob! I am proud of you for saving your money to pay for this! I hope you get to use it for many years!

Ford Fever

My baby {Jacob} has Ford Fever. He is officially 15 1/2 now and he is so ready to find an old Ford truck to call his own. This is a picture of a Ford that he spotted Saturday while we were on Route 66 in Vinita. He has a few requirements. It needs to be a 4 wheel drive. It has to be the right price, cheap, and perferably it will be a Ford. He gets that Ford thing from his father. I like them too, but I am not quite as fanatical as Kim. He would be willing to settle for a Dodge or maybe a Jeep International.

Everywhere we go, every thing we do, and everything he says revolves around the truck and the arrangements to buy the truck. His plan is to sell his four wheeler and use the money from it to buy the truck, so he won't be spending much money on it to start with, but then he will work this summer mowing yards and make enough money to fix it up. He does not want a pretty truck. He wants a rugged rough truck that he can take off road mudding, fishing, and just go where he wants without worrying about how good his truck looks. So if you know of such a truck, you know where to find us! Please rescue us from Ford Fever!
